Did you know April is stress awareness month?
One of the easiest ways for me to manage my stress is to make sure I’m getting my rest. When I don’t get my rest life just doesn’t seem to go according to plan and the smallest of things will make me super cranky! Which doesn’t help anybodies stress levels!
If my body is feeling stressed or wound up or if my brain is having a hard time “turning off” I find the following things to be helpful, especially if not getting to bed at a decent time has turned into an unwanted habit:
- Turning off the TV or other electronics and reading a book is much more relaxing.
- Taking a nice warm bath helps my body get ready for bed. Epsom salts and essential oils are nice but by no means are they mandatory.
- I take USANA’s Pure Rest, a non-habit forming melatonin supplement (Melatonin is a naturally occurring hormone that regulates sleep and wake cycles)
One of my favorite things to add to my bath water is this Oatmeal Cookie Bath. It smells yummy and is soothing all at the same time!
- 1 cup oats (rolled or instant)
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 Tbls vanilla extract
Then you just add to your bath, while the water is still running, and RELAX!!
