I have a confession to make…..I have a problem with late night snacking!

It hits me almost every night about 9:00/9:30 the kids are finally all in bed (hopefully) and I just want to sit down, take a deep breath, enjoy and decompress with a yummy sweet or chocolate treat.  A “Calgon take me away” moment if you remember that commercial.

I want to share some things with you that usually help me.

  1. Take that “Calgon moment” and actually take a nice hot bath to relax and unwind.

  2. stockvault-cup-of-tea124024Sometimes I eat more out of habit then hunger and I have found reaching for a glass of water is helpful or since it is the evening maybe have some chamomile tea, I like to put a little unsweetened coconut milk in as a “creamer” or a little honey to sweeten it up a bit.

  3. If I am eating to de-stress I have found melatonin supplements to be useful + they help me sleep well when I can’t seem to shut my mind off at night.  I am partial to Pure Rest from USANA Health Sciences, please feel free to contact me if you need more information.

  4. photoHaving healthy snacks on hand for when I am actually hungry is beneficial too.  Let’s be honest, you aren’t going to want to cut up veggies so try to plan something that your mind thinks is sinful but your body will find healthy like my Healthy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Banana Cookies or some of my craving busters

  5. Last, is eating clean and making sure I stay hydrated.  I try to eat a good combination of fiber, protein, & complex carbs throughout the entire day.  If I have had a day of eating junk and unhealthy foods it is much harder to resist that late-night snack!
