Hello world!

I am excited to start this new journey with you! I want to introduce myself and tell you a little about me

After having 4 children and only marginally losing weight in between each birth, my weight was only going up and my energy levels decreasing.  I made a resolution to myself that I would just move more and concentrate on changing just that one thing.  I quickly realized however that was surprisingly more challenging than I thought.

I was still lazy and since I was a stay at home mom I didn’t find as many chances to “take the stairs” or “park farther away” than I thought I would.  I decided I needed to do something more but I didn’t want to waste more money on a gym membership that I wasn’t going to use (been there done that in years past).  I found a Groupon for fitwarriors.com a 6-week body boot camp class for $25.  I will be honest I was very nervous about what that would entail but I decided it was worth a try.  At first, it was extremely challenging but I wanted to stick with it even if it was only $25 I was determined not to waste that money.

Six weeks later it was less challenging, I had more energy and although I didn’t loose any weight that first six weeks I did lose inches.  Which means I was gaining muscle and losing fat which is more important than what the scale says.  I actually grew to love the workouts and included kickboxing into the mix with the same trainer.  My family saw how much I enjoyed it and so several people bought me more Groupons to the same place and then I finally got a full-time membership and I have been going ever since.

Since moving more helped me feel so good I decided I could do even more and decided to change the way I ate also.  I have tried dieting on and off all my life and it usually works until I get lazy again and go back to old eating habits.  I was determined not to let that happen again this time.  I did still try different diets, menu plans, and different restrictions this time as well.  The difference this time though was that I kept notes on what worked and what didn’t  and also what I could eat long term and what was only a quick fix.  I kept the ideas for quick fixes for those times that I needed a little extra boost to get me back on track when I start to slip.  I kept the other things that did work and were maintainable and put them into my menu rotation on a daily/weekly basis.

After research on the internet, help from friends, my trainer Darrin Walton, and testing what worked for me and what didn’t I feel confident that I have found a healthy way to eat that I can maintain.  Because just like exercise you need to find what works for you and what doesn’t.  It took me about a year to loose 50 lbs.   For the most part, I have been able to maintain that 50-pound loss.  I fluctuate like anybody else 5-10 pounds here or there but I feel good.  I have the energy I need to play with my kids and keep up with my daily tasks around the house and that is what is most important to me.

I did however still struggle with some sluggishness and insomnia and I felt like there was still something missing.  A good friend and fellow Hot Mama Club Coach suggested that vitamins and supplements might be the answer to my problems.  Admittedly I was not taking either so I decided it could only help.  I started taking good quality vitamins that were suggested to me with the 5 day reset from USANA.  I was pleasantly surprised in the difference they made for me.

I completely believe that Healthy is Sexy.  I haven’t felt this good since I was in my early twenties and I couldn’t have done it without some inspiration, family, friends, my trainer, and the Hot Mama Club Coaches!  Thank you to all of you for your good examples and support!
