Day 29 of 30 Day Recipe Challenge

Green drinks are super for your health and are part of an alkaline diet.  Having an alkaline diet helps to maintain the pH of your digestive system which reduces inflammation and reduction in free radicals (stuff that creates damage in your body).

The chlorphyll in greens is cleansing and nourishing for your body.  It is the part of the plant that harnesses the energy of the sun.  Dark leafy greens contain high amounts of chlorophyll which is not only cleansing to your body, but supports the liver.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the beet root (purple/red part of the beet) and dark leafy greens are considered to be blood builders.  Blood is what nourishes your body, so it’s especially important to eat foods the build and fuel your blood.

{Women’s Health Tip}  Eating blood building foods during your menstrual cycle can help offset some of the standard symptoms that affect you.

  • 2 cups chopped beet greens, remove thick stems
  • 1 small raw beet
  • 1 stalk celery
  • 1 apple, core removed
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 cup coconut water
  • 2-4 drops liquid stevia (sweeten to your preferred taste)

Place all washed produce and water in the blender.  Start on low and gradually move to high.  Once consistency is smooth, slow the blender speed gradually all the way down to low.
